My First Car: A Blessing and a Gift!

Image
November 7 That night I got a message from Ruth Arienza-Go reconfirming my plan to buy a new car. And I replied YES! Then she gave my contact number to an agent, which later I knew by name as Rusnel. Ms. Rusnel called after my dinner with my brother, Manong Danny, was served. She asked me to SMS her my personal data and that she will prepare my car loan application. November 8 A personnel from the Toyota Financing Services (TFS) called me and interviewed me over the phone, affirming the data I provided in the application form. That was 9 o'clock in the morning. Then I received another call from the same person at around lunchtime. That afternoon when I returned from my lunchbreak, I actually met with my sister to do some bank transactions including the deposit of the P5,000 reservations for the toyota innova, one of our administrative assistants informed me that the TFS called and talked to them, inquiring my work status and other information. At around 4pm, Ms. Rusnel messa...

A Close Encounter with a K Kind

November 3, 2012 On my way back to Busan from Seoul... I booked the 1pm trip to Busan via the express train, KTX, which trip would only last for 2 and a half hours; the usual train trip almost cut in half. My assigned car was 18, assigned seat was 14B. When the call to board was flashing on the screen followed by the announcement, I was ecstatic to know that car 18 was the couch attached to the pilot’s deck. It was worth the price because the ambiance, the seat, the cabin as whole felt luxurious and super-comfy, with Wi-Fi access. I was more elated to notice that I will be sitting beside this young and cute Korean guy, in military uniform. That was my close encounter with a Korean kind! When I settled on my seat, I tried to unfold my seat table, only to find it stuck. I forced it to unfold but I was unlucky the first time. When I attempted to open it again, this cute Korean guy lent a hand, but we failed. I told him, “Don’t worry. Nevermind!” But I need that table because ...

Dream BIG... Big DREAM

This is a retyped article, originally from my personal blog at friendster then.   Today is my 11th year year of being a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). Today is November 11, 2008. I am a product of a less-privileged household. And I am not ashamed of it. My father has various professions, I mean skills. He's a licensed heavy equipment driver and a legit farmer. He seldom can also be a carpenter, coconut sap gatherer, fisherman, and what not. My mother on the other hand is an absolute but the best housekeeper. And she's also a handcore farmer, not to mention her frustration to become a teacher. Teacher or not, her own pedagogy has prepared me and my 3 siblings to ace school. My parents labored much to give their four children food, shelter, clothing and love. They astoundingly struggled our education from grade school to college. Upon knowledge of my mother dream of becoming a teacher, I wished then to be one in her stead. When I became an altar boy at age 10, ...

A Taste of SoKor

Few days earlier: Last-minute Preparations   Cebu Pacific Airline once again promoted a one peso seat sale, including international flights. That was February 2012 when I booked my flights to Beijing-Shanghai with dates in August 2012 and Busan-Seoul in November 2012. Countries like the Republic of China and Republic of Korea require Filipinos an entry visa. When July came, I processed my Chinese visa which due to very stringent cash requirement, I was denied entry. I admit it has somehow discouraged me to file of Korean visa until last week of October arrived. My prepaid plane ticket Manila-Busan-Manila was dated 31 October to 4 November 2012. My professional activities were then hectic and a chance to visit the Korean Embassy in Mckinley Hill, Taguig City can hardly squeeze in. I personally appeared and applied for a tourist visa on 22 October and fortunately passed the initial screening and given claim slip dated 29 October. I was hoping to get the approved entry visa...
