๐ŸŽ„ A Christmas Tradition: Family Travels to Hong Kong & Macau

Since 2009, Hong Kong and Macau have been cherished destinations in my travel journal—places I’ve returned to time and again for their vibrant energy, cultural richness, and family-friendly attractions. For Filipino families, they offer a perfect blend of excitement and comfort, with experiences that delight both kids and adults.

This year’s Christmas getaway was more than just a vacation—it was a heartfelt reward for my nephews and nieces, celebrating their scholastic achievements with a weeklong adventure across two dazzling cities. With my sister En and brother-in-law Jun as chaperones, we embarked on a journey filled with laughter, discovery, and unforgettable memories.

๐Ÿ—“️ Our Itinerary & Highlights

๐Ÿ“ Dec 21 – Arrival & Avenue of the Stars
We landed in Hong Kong with excitement buzzing in the air. After settling in, we strolled along the Avenue of the Stars, marveling at the handprints of cinematic legends and soaking in the harbor views. As night fell, the Symphony of Lights painted the skyline with color and rhythm—a magical welcome to kick off our trip.

๐ŸŽ  Dec 22 & 23 – Hong Kong Disneyland Extravaganza

Two full days at Hong Kong Disneyland were pure enchantment. From thrilling rides to whimsical parades, the kids were wide-eyed with joy. We met beloved characters, explored themed lands, and watched fireworks light up the castle. It was a dreamscape where childhood wonder met family bonding.

๐ŸŽข Dec 24 – Ocean Park Adventures

Christmas Eve was spent at Ocean Park, where we braved wild rides and explored marine exhibits. The roller coasters were a hit with the older kids, while the cable car offered breathtaking views. Though the Dolphin Show lacked its usual sparkle, the day was still packed with thrills and laughter.

๐Ÿš‹ Dec 25 – Victoria Peak & Wax Museum Fun

On Christmas Day, we rode the iconic Peak Tram to Victoria Peak, where the city unfolded beneath us like a glittering map. At Madame Tussauds, we posed with wax figures of Filipino stars—an unexpected delight that brought giggles and proud selfies. It was a celebration of both global icons and local pride.

๐Ÿšค Dec 26 – Macau Heritage & Hotel Hopping

We crossed into Macau via TurboJet, then hopped aboard the Open Bus Tour for a breezy exploration. Walking through Senado Square and the Ruins of St. Paul felt like stepping into a European postcard. Later, we marveled at the grandeur of The Venetian, Londoner, and Parisian hotels—each one a teleportation to another world.

๐Ÿšก Dec 27 – Lantau Island & Outlet Finds

Back in Hong Kong, we glided up to Lantau Island via the Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car, surrounded by misty mountains and serene views. At Ngong Ping Village, we wandered through shops and temples, soaking in the peaceful vibe. The day ended with a shopping spree at Citygate Outlets, where everyone found a little treasure to take home.

๐Ÿ›️ Dec 28 – Souvenirs & Farewell

Our final day was for last-minute souvenir hunting—trinkets, treats, and keepsakes to remember the journey. As we boarded the bus to the airport, hearts full and bags packed, we knew this trip had etched another beautiful chapter in our family’s story.

๐Ÿ’– Reflections

This journey wasn’t just about destinations—it was about togetherness. Watching my nephews and nieces light up with joy, seeing En and Jun guide them with care, and being part of every moment reminded me why these traditions matter. They’re our way of celebrating life, honoring hard work, and building a legacy of love and adventure.
