ACtive in Morocco

ACtive stands for "Anneth and Crisanto, tandem in various escapades". We normally schedule a trip together once a year before Covid19 pandemic.

And we are reACtivated!!! Anneth and I were back on the road together to tick off more travel bucket lists. Morocco was the chosen destination this year for various reasons and considerations:

  1. no visa requirement for Filipinos,
  2. closer to Asia, and
  3. another colorful culture and history.

We fixed the dates, August 19 to 27, picked the tours, and hit the road.

Revenge Travel

We came back with a vengeance this year! Summer in Morocco was the chosen escapade. We stayed in 3 big cities: Casablanca, Fes & Marrakech to spend 8 full days of touring around the country, including the blue city of Chefchaouen, green city of Meknes, red city of Marrakech, and the desert in the Atlas Mountains.

Colors play an important role in Morocco: Chefchaouen is Blue; Fes is Yellow; Meknes is Green; Rabat is Blue & White; Casablanca is White; and, Marrakech is Red. The colors are evident in the paint colors of buildings and other structures. |X|quisite!

In Fes, we experienced the hottest day with 46 degrees Celsius plus high humidity. The trip to Volubilis and Meknes really tested my endurance of the hot day without any sunglasses or hats.

In Marrakech, we enjoyed Agafay Desert on sunset with camel ride and dinner with night of cultural presentation. In Ouarzazate, we crossed the zigzagging highways through the desert, hopping from movie sets to another at the Atlas Studios, so-called Hollywood of Morocco, and climbing the walls of one ancient caravan city, the Ait Benhaddou. Desert is real! It's just a wonder that even here, there's humanity and lifestyle.

Casablanca

- Tanger Day Trip

Fez

- Old Medina

- Chefchaouen Day Tour

- Volubilis & Meknes Trip

Tajine is famous cuisine in Morocco. The recipe may be of chicken, beef or lamb served dry or with sauce or soupy. The most delicious we tasted was in Restaurant Palais Ismailia in Meknes.

Marrakech

- Agafay Desert

- Ouzoud Waterfall

This side of the Atlas Mountains is obviously the most fertile section of desert farming. It is a wonder to find waterfall in the middle of the desert. The water looked muddy due to its clay soil. This tourist spot by the way is popular and thus expected to be crowded.
